Customer Feedback ... We really do listen!

by Rapid Welding 4. March 2015 15:32

It is standard practice to invite all our customers to complete a short feedback survey following a purchase/order. It is completely optional, but a very useful tool in ensuring that we provide all our customers with the best possible experience when purchasing welding supplies, a matter that has always been and will continue to be of great importance to us.

Recently we received the following survey results:

Overall Quality of Rapid Experience = 10

Appearance and Ease of Use of the website = 7

Enough Product Choice = Yes

How Competitive = Very

Goods Arrived = As Expected

Goods Well Packaged and Arrived In Good Order = Yes

Quality of Communications = Impressive

Received Good Value For Money = Yes

Use Us Again = Yes

Recommend Us = Yes

Receive Monthly Newsletter = Yes

Our response:

After thanking the customer for taking the time to complete the feedback, we highlighted the fact that they had marked us '7' for Appearance and Ease of Use of the website, referencing their additional comments which focused on a few niggles with functionality and accessing pictures. Having received feedback from previous customers about the website, we had already taken note of the issues brought to our attention and had begun implementing significant changes to bring about a better overall user experience.

We were able to share with this particular customer that his points had been of great interest to us, and that some exciting news was about to be announced, news we would like to share with you all now.

Rapid is currently in the process of having the website extensively updated with a brand new design, courtesy of Mustard Design Consultants. The grand 'go live' will be on April 1st, which also happens to be our 25 Birthday (but more on that later!!!!) and customers browsing for welding products can be promised a new and updated website that is also tablet and mobile friendly, simplifying the whole experience, just as you requested.

Customers response:

"Thanks for the acknowledgement, a first. I have received acknowledgments for feedback before but this is the first time I know one has been read and answered personally.
11/10 for communication, even more impressed.
Look forward to seeing the new site."

So there you have it, proof that we really do listen to what our valued customers have to say

Rapid Marine at Southampton Boat Show 2014 - Supporting Your Tender Behind!

by Rapid Welding 30. September 2014 10:15

Have you read about J'ade, the 196ft long vessel designed by Italian company CRN, which comes complete with - amongst other things - a 'drive in' garage for its tender? If not, and your into hearing about the spends of the super wealthy, have a thing for James Bond style gadgetry, or, if you simply like to stare, sigh, and think, 'if only my boat had one of those', then the J'ade is definitely worth a Google.

J'ade has an indoor pool, an aquarium, and a 'drive-in garage' for its tender.

If, however, like most of us mere mortals, your boat -or your pockets- won't stretch to a hydraulic-operated hatch with room to store an eight-metre tender without the use of a lift to hoist it out of the water, here are a few alternative suggestions.

The Rapid Marine Promise to YOU!

Rapid Marine is part of the Rapid Group of Companies offering quality products, quality advice and above all, quality service. As the market leader in lifting slings and tie down kits for tenders, Rapid Marine supply many well-known brands - we are the preferred supplier to Williams Performance Jet Tenders, and our customers include Princess Motor Yacht and PR Nautica. Our adjustable lifting slings are designed to fit 99% of all tenders, can be used with any type of lifting equipment, and are manufactured in the UK and certified to European Safety Specifications.

The PSP Southampton Boat Show

Two weeks ago the team from Rapid Marine were at the PSP Southampton Boat Show, and with more than 112,000 people descending on Mayflower Park & Town Quay to enjoy 10 days of boating and fabulous weather, it was certainly a great success for all involved. According to reports, sales were up on previous years for many companies, and we came away with several potential customers and many new leads, not to mention lots more ideas!!!!

Mike Evers was at the helm for the duration of the ten day show, presenting Rapid Marine's new concept Lifting Slings and Tie down kits for tenders. The Jet ski Crane Sling, an adjustable PWC sling manufactured to complement a wide range of Jet Ski makes and models, was very well received - Interestingly, these slings were also on display at the world’s most revered yacht show in Monaco last week, courtesy of one of our customers, Super Yacht Tenders & Toys.

Rapid Marine's adjustable PWC slings at a glance:

  • Safe Working Load 700kg
  • Stainless 316 fittings
  • Unique serial number
  • 100% Polyester webbing
  • Easy to fit
  • Simple instructions
  • Manufactured in the UK
  • Certified to EU Safety Standards

Also popular at the Boat Show was the all new flush fitting Padeye. Made of 316 Stainless Steel, the new design Padeye is discreet, quick and hassle free to use, and very easily attaches to your ratchet tie downs.

The all new Rapid Marine Flush Fitting Padeye at a glance:

  • Flush Fitting
  • Stainless Steel 316
  • Easy to use - no screwing in eye bolts
  • Quick to use
  • Easy to attach your ratchet tie downs
  • SWL 500kg
  • Discreet

As with all events, the PSP Southampton Boat Show 2014 was an exciting networking opportunity, providing a great platform on which to raise the Rapid Marine profile while showcasing our range of excellent and well-crafted products. Questions were answered and, as is often the case, were raised, too. All in all, it's exciting times for Rapid Marine.

What a SUPERSTAR! Another member of the Rapid Family does good!

by Rapid Welding 14. August 2014 15:30

We always stand, applaud, cheer, hang out the bunting and generally go a bit mad when one of the team do something special, and this time it's Chris Anderson's turn to get the full on fanfare.

Chris Anderson MAAT - Rapid's latest Superstar!

Chris works in accounts, and has been at Rapid since May 2011. Yesterday he received the long awaited news that he has passed his AAT level 4 Accountancy exam (AAT stands for Association of Accounting Technicians - not Awful At Tennis as one of our office comedians suggested - and is the UK’s leading qualification and professional body for vocational accountants).

Chris has previously completed two book-keeping courses in 2011 and 2012, then the AAT level 3 in 2013. The completion of Level 4 means that Chris has achieved the highest level for AAT.

Over the duration of the courses Chris has studied many different aspects of accounting, including business and personal tax, budgeting, accounts preparation, cash management, spreadsheet software, cost and revenue, indirect tax, professional ethics, financial performance, financial statements, not to mention coursework on internal controls and accounting systems - Phew!

So here's a big and well deserved well done from all of us at Rapid, Chris. All your hard work has paid off.

AAT - It doesn't stand for Awful At Tennis

 Proud of Our Team!

Choosing the Right Welding Helmet for You

by Rapid Welding 25. July 2014 10:18

Choosing the Right Welding Helmet for You!

Lincoln Viking 2450 Auto Darkening Shade 9 - 13 Welding Helmet

The type of welding you do determines which welding helmet is right for you, and factors such as working environment, welding applications, materials, and the amount of time spent welding all need to be considered.

In terms of PPE, a welding helmet is one of the most essential pieces of kit a welder must invest in. It protects the wearers eyes and face from visible and invisible hazards such as ultraviolet/infrared rays and sparks, and there are numerous options available in today's market to meet individual needs, budget, and personal preference.

 3M Adflo Welding Helmet

Things to take into account when choosing a welding helmet:

Safety First: Before shopping up, make sure your chosen helmet complies with the necessary industry and regulatory standards. Check the product guide or operators manual and look for EU standards and CE marking.

Type of welding: The type of welding application you do may mean you require higher shade levels or lower shade levels, or even the ability to change between the two - as provided by many auto darkening helmets.

Length of time spent welding: Welder fatigue is dangerous and non-productive. Consider lightweight alternatives to increase comfort and safety, as well as a preventative measure against neck strain.

Weld, grind and plasma cut all with one helmet - Save Phace is a popular choice with our customers.

Get the look: For the fashion conscious welder, there some stylish themes, colours and graphics to choose from, with some brands offering the option of personalisation.

Budget: There is a wide range of welding helmets with numerous options to fit all pockets without compromising on safety.

The market today is fairly extensive, so you should be able to find something to meet your requirements. Rapid stocks a broad range of welding helmets - Kemppi, Lincoln Electric, 3M, Save Phace, to name but a few popular brands, along with helmet spares and replacement parts such as lenses, head gear and sweatbands. Why not take a look online, or discuss your needs with our product specialist, Andy on (0)23 92 214 214.

Happy Shopping fellow welders!

Amazing Engineering In Focus

by Rapid Welding 18. July 2014 09:56

The Kelpies

We think these sculptures are incredible and yet another display of amazing engineering.

Designed by sculpter Andy Scott, these visually stunning giant horseheads called The Kelpies are the largest works of art in Scotland. Standing at 30 metres (100 feet) and weighing in at 300 tonnes each, these beauties are Scotland's newest visitor attraction and were opened to the public in April this year as part of a multi million pound redevelopment of land between Falkirk and Grangemouth. Built of structural steel with a stainless steel cladding, the sculptures took a whopping eight years of planning and one year to manufacture and assemble.

As well as The Kelpies, there are two sets of 1:10 scale models known as Kelpie maquettes which were sculpted from steel and then galvanized using a hot dip process. The Kelpie maquettes were welded by hand from small plates of steel and are displayed across Scotland in locations such as Edinburgh Airport,The Field Museum, and at several engineering events including Expo 2013 (Glasgow) and the Sheffield International Steel Celebration.

Plymovent Diluter - for a cleaner, healthier work environment

by Rapid Welding 3. July 2014 09:40

Plymovent Diluter - For a Cleaner, Healthier Work Environment

Suitable ventilation and air cleaning solutions are a must to protect employees and sensitive equipment from welding fumes.

The Diluter from Plymovent is a stand alone air cleaning solution designed for light to medium welding processes and developed to reduce and control the background concentration of welding fumes in a workshop. First introduced in 2006, the function works by cleaning air and recirculating it back into the work environment without causing drafts at work level, and is an excellent choice if source extraction and hoods are not an option. Targeting welding fumes, the Diluter's nozzles can be rotated to optimise airflow and minimise the concentration of fumes in the workplace, immediately noticeable as the visual 'blue layer' disappears. As well as  having a low energy consumption, thus saving costs, adjustments can be made to the Diluters height, speed and direction of blow. It doesn’t require ducting, meaning it can be moved around the work place to suit multiple layouts and applications, making it a flexible option for you welders on the move.

Benefits at a glance:

  • Reduction of the background concentration of welding fumes
  • Continuous purification of (polluted) air
  • Energy saving; recirculation of expensively heated or cooled air
  • Stand alone unit; no ductwork required
  • Suits almost any work environment
  • Easy to install

Rapid is an official distributer for Plymovent solutions. For more information and specifics, call or connect online with our lovely Andy on: (0)23 92 214 214 or for more information and to view the product click HERE.
